Boston Marathon Bombing Suspect Is Communicating with Authorities!
UPDATE: The Boston bomber suspect was charged with using a WMD, malicious destruction of property resulting in a death, just to name a few. He could be facing the death penalty. The White House plans to treat as a civilian and not an enemy combatant.
“He will not be treated as an enemy combatant. We will prosecute this terrorist through our civilian system of justice,” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said.
“Under U.S. law, United States citizens cannot be tried in military commissions. And it is important to remember that since 9/11 we have used the federal court system to convict and incarcerate hundreds of terrorists.”
He was assigned three federal public defenders.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev agreed to “voluntary detention,” but declined to answer questions about bail, according to a court record. Reportedly he has a wound to his neck or throat which made it difficult for him to speak, so he nodded for “yes” and “no” answers. At some point he began to talk but the magistrate was unable to hear him clearly, so he was advised to write down his responses.
A probable cause hearing was set for May 30.
Both the mother and father of the suspect is in full support of their son and both believe their son is innocent of the accused crimes. The mother, Zubeidat Tsarnaev, recently gave a phone interview from Dagestan, claiming her sons innocence.
Authorities now believe that the attacks were planned by the older brother Tamerlan. Dzhokhar reportedly told investigators the whole attack was devised from the Internet. The two brothers, he said, had no direction or financing from governments or rogue groups overseas.
Authorities also believe the older brother Tamerlan orchestrated the entire incident and his younger brother Dzhokhar may have not known any details about the bombing, until 1 week before the bombing.
